1. Practice ‘mindfulness’ throughout the day

‘Mindfulness’ is a fantastic practice to reduce stress and enhance mood during your working day. In a seated position, close your eyes and just focus on your breathing. Aim for ten breathing cycles.

2. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night

Sleep is essential for your energy levels, mood and mental health. Sleep deficiency affects your ability to make decisions, solve problems and control your emotions during the day.

3. Go for a walk at lunchtime

Exercise doesn’t necessarily have to be a trip to the gym or a fitness class. A short 10-minute walk during lunchtime has fantastic benefits on your health and wellness.

4. Drink plenty of water

Keep a bottle of water with you throughout the day. Maintaining hydration levels enhances your mood, concentration and mental alertness.

5. Practice bedtime meditation

Meditation prior to bedtime is excellent for reducing stress and helps you to relax for a good night’s sleep. Lying on your back in a warm and comfortable position; breathe in through your nose and out through your nose. If any thoughts enter your head, acknowledge them and refocus your attention back to your breathing. Aim for 5- 10 minutes per evening.

6. Eat fresh fruit and vegetables

Healthy eating throughout the day has been found to boost your mood and has a positive effect of your mental wellbeing.

7. Tell a joke and have a ‘laugh’ at work

Don’t forget to have a laugh with your colleagues at work. Laughing is great for releasing endorphins (happy hormones); which will help to lower stress levels and improve your mood.
